Almost tempted by this if the diary is clear, tho not sure what 'activities' are planned....

If you mean the ELR 1940s weekend then have a look at the info for May 2011.

Otherwise there's no 'activities' planned for the 2nd Rossendale meet other than a BBQ & probably a fire to sit round of an evening & shoot the breeze. It's early days yet with being a new venue & the site being largely undeveloped. Likely once some more members have seen the place there'll be some ideas worth following up like having a meet coincident with the ELR 1940s weekend.

just not sure I fancy trawling up from the mids.

Travel distance can be a damper when you're not sure what to expect (or what your CF will get up to on the way...) but hopefully there'll be another Derby meet next year if Scoobydoo can manage it.

Probably - just will have to check my placement workload so will start a thread in the New Year if people are interested. Ed - just go for the thrill and remember you are in safe hands when you get there
;D

Hello Pete,
Sorry to hear you missed the educational lesson on orientation after Phil painstakingly demonstrated his skills on cartography. I felt my contribution was purely to enhance Phil's already informative thread.
As for the wheels, I suggest you wear a wrist watch just in case you forget which way anti-clockwise is

Only joking mate. Look forward to seeing you and your entourage there.

Second Rossendale Meet

Hello Phil,
Ann and myself will be leaving on Thursday night; clutching our passports and, with our phrase books, heading our way south. Hopefully an overnight stop at Sedburgh and then making our way to the metropolis of Haslingden.
We look forward to seeing everybody there. Really looking forward to this, see you all soon.

Final preparation

Sent pmails to everyone with my phone number (including those who may have it already). If I've managed to miss out anyone then give me a shout.

BBQ is the gas one like at the first meet; then it turned into a communal affair with everyone chipping in & Derk presiding over the burning cooking. Can be the same again if Derk is willing but it doesn't have to be that way; probably best to go with the flow.

Water is a tap at the house, about 100 yards from the hard standing.

Elsan bio or equivalent organic toilet fluid should be used for disposal into the septic tank on the site, behind the house. (This is so that the dry well part doesn't get poisoned by non-organic fluid & stop working.)

I'll be on site from about midday Friday. If anyone wants to turn up earlier then that's fine: just follow the destructions posted earlier. Phone me if you wish & I can be there to meet you - I'll not be far away.

When you arrive, if the gates are shut then can you please close them behind you before you make your way up to the hard standing.

See you all there.

Hello Pete,
Au contraire. We have one of our favourite laybys on the outskirts.

No problem with me Ts Pete, it's the Hs, going down 'saff' and all that and as for Ann, she puts too many Rs in front of RRRRRRae.
