Good news I have just had a fella look at my van (chunky) who restores vw campers along with other stuff. He says the body is good and solid and the roof is fine where it is. he says for 2k he will do all the body work and respray including wheels. Cheating a bit but I want him on the road this year (touch wood).

Sounds good news. Please can you keep us posted on this and what work you are having done. I'm wanting to get my bodywork sorted pretty soon and on the look out for willing people who would take on the job. Thanks.

Hi Redcowe when I done mine I removed all the interior. then I could see the extent of the rust. most off the roof that was left on to bond the fibreglass roof on with had rusted away and just came out with just a pull including the roof over the cab. then I cleaned the gutter on the inside of the roof and treated with kurust and repaired all the holes then painted it then we removed the roof to re bond it on see my hight top off.

That's what I'm doing Redcowe. Cheating, but I have nowhere undercover where I can remove windows etc.
Hoping to have mine back next weekend.

Have been without a computer since my last post so my apolologies. I droped the van of at the body shop on saturday and have started the stop watch. He tells me he will have it a month. I also took it for a mot last week to see what it would fail on. To my suprise the worst thing on the sheet was a rottern exhaust. There is also a few bulbs to change and the emmisions are a little high. Not bad for a blind buy on ebay. still got my fingers crossed though just in case. Before i put him on the trailer I did a couple of laps round the estate and they carnt help but bring a smile to your face a true classic.
