Thinking about buying a '77 CF but....

......there's the dreaded milky goo around the oil filler cap!

Now I'm very new to CFs and was wondering if this is a major problem to change the head gasket (if that's what the problem is??) or should I run a mile?

The rest of the van is great btw!

Sorry for the lack of introduction. Hopefully if we get the van I'll be posting much more and will become a regular :)

Thanks in advance!

Kevin

Hi Kevin,it might be worth more investigation. It doesnt have to be the head gasket,Cheap oil for example will emulsify. Is there oil in the water?Overheating?compression problems?Worth a wee look mate to try and track it down.

If it's been standing for a while, condensation will have built up in the engine & give the same symptoms.

Thanks for the replies guys! After reading your posts and doing a bit more research I'm hopeful that it is condensation due to not being driven very much over the last year. I'm going to by a compression tester and test the compression on saturday and if all's well there I'll own it on sunday!
