I was told a while back to always use mineral oil rather than synthetic as that had an adverse effect on seals etc. Haven't looked in detail but it might tell you in here. ---------------------- | Wed 24 Jul 2013 @ 02:39 |

Looks like the Perkins manual was published in 1978 and oils have changed a lot in the meantime. I had an old Volvo (V6 Petrol) that had always run on semi sympathetic oil and when I sold it at 250k miles it still didn't need topping up between annual servicing! Didn't leak unduly either . . . . . We used to run the Compressors in the Tugs on fully sympathetic oil and they were in perfect nick after 12 or more years running. 10/40 semi synthetic is ok to use in the Beddy. it wont harm any seals and will aid starting . | Wed 24 Jul 2013 @ 20:07 |

The service went a treat put 300 miles on it this weekend and the last 150 she was laden with stuff from my mums (she didn't miss a beat ) 60 mph on flat road but that drops considerably going up hill. ---------------------- | Wed 31 Jul 2013 @ 03:16 |
