Alternator

I am going to pick up a 1977 Bedford cf camper at the weekend but the alternator is dead, how far can I drive it with a fully charged battery

It's the sort of thing I would take a chance on if it's only a few miles and I knew how good the battery is.

On the other hand if you run out of sparks on a motorway you could be in for a bill bigger than a new alternator and also putting yourself and others in danger.

If you're sure its the alternator you be well advised to do it or get it done before you set off. After all it will have to get done sometime !
