Painting Stuff

Hi,

I'm finally starting to strip back the bodywork on my van and removing all the old paint/etc as much as pos to remove all the rust and make repairs. I'm removing a lot of panels to get to the inner sills, inner arches, etc.

I've been looking tons on line about different types of primers/fillers/methods, and there seems to be loads of different ideas from people.

I don't have the money or facilities to strip it to the shell and have it chemically dipped and primed, so I'll have to remove the rust as best I can and spray it with cans of something. I have some money to have it painted properly once I've repaired/basic primed it, and hopefully to seal the underside and chassis.

The best solution I can find is to use etch primer on the bare metal sections, and weld primer on my repair joints. Can anyone tell me if there is a better solution, or if I even need to use the weld primer on the joints?

Thanks, Nick
