clutch/gearbox questions

Hi to all, my first post. Been reading the site for ages, its been very helpful the last year. Just seem to do enough to keep van on road each year(not enough time to do what I'd like) cheers everyone.got 1981 cf autosleeper. Question is gears seem to crunch alot. As though the clutch isn't depressed enough, noisy thrust bearing . Thought I'd replace the whole clutch and bearing ,took gearbox off clutch looks ok . So should I replace just bearing and possibly cable or would it be better to have a new couch kit? Cheers Lee.

I'm sure I've read a comment by Gethin somewhere that the cable stretches over time.I'd check that first,it'll certainly be the cheaper option.

First off have a read of the thread at the top of this message board."How to register on the auction site".If you're sure that it's the part you need I'll then list it for seven days,if no one bids against you it's yours.
I haven't got a clue what it would cost so I'm just going to do some searching, see if I can find one to compare to.If you can find one elsewhere, let me know how much & I'll undercut.

Had a better look, not sure what the nut an bolt are for? Had a look in the centre of the flywheel, put my finger in there lots of loose / broken little rollers! What is it? Spigot bearing? Haynes doesn't seem to know! What to do?

Just had a closer look at the bearing & found a part number;1414187B.Looking at other greedbay listings for that number it's for the vauxhall four speed box.I'll get it listed asap, starting price £12 plus postage £3.20.
