Does it look like a standard cf one?I'm not really conversant with the Mountain Range conversion other than that they were originally made in Crewe.Could you post a pic of your van? ---------------------- | Sat 17 Jan 2015 @ 17:34 |

If you've only got a chip, not a crack, try and get it repaired. If the chip hasn't got any "spiderlegs" coming off, any windscreen repair place should be able to do it. If you have a windscreen insurance they should cover it and tell you who to use. If you have to pay yourself, try National Windscreens. I've used them and they are the cheapest and most helpful to customers who have to pay. Auto Glass are rip off merchants and Auto Windscreen are only interested in insurance work. Don't leave it too long. If you get water in the crack and it freezes over night, your windscreen might crack all the way. That'll be more money then. Frank | Sat 17 Jan 2015 @ 18:16 |

hi,call autoglass to repair your screen if you are insured, when tech arrives he will advise you weather it can be repaired or not , if successfull autoglass will guarantee the repair, and if it cracks at a later date from that repair then they will replace it free of charge, wot they can repair is centre of steering wheel 290mm across is 10mm towards passenger within drivers wiperis 15mm passenger wiper sweep 25mm anwhere outside wipersweep 40mm ,any damage greater than 10mm in drivers vision in 290mm sweep is an mot failure just bear in mind that chip repairs are not an invisible repair they are a structural repair, and the windscreens for these vehicles are still availablebut i would phone the indepedants to get a good price and more of a 121 serviceif paying for yourself, ps am a windscreen tech and have been for past 27 years and work fo autoglass ---------------------- | Sun 18 Jan 2015 @ 17:25 |

If it is the same as the "normal" one then I have two in my personal collection & there is one that was donated to the club. That one was stored in Dorset but the member hasn't been around for some time.I'll try & get in touch with him & see if he's still got it. ---------------------- | Mon 19 Jan 2015 @ 00:51 |

Thanks guys, have been told its too big for repair, its been there way before we bought her, its the only thing holding up the MOT, its right at the bottom of the wiper blade on drivers side. Have had a couple of independents try and source one, 2 apparently got broken and then one was the wrong size. Feeling lost, and very unhappy ! | Fri 30 Jan 2015 @ 19:30 |

mountain range windscreens are much bigger than standard CF windscreens and are very hard to find . I remember Roy having a big problem finding 1. you could try the mountain ambulance group to see if they have 1 or know of 1, otherwise its a custom made job I'm afraid | Fri 30 Jan 2015 @ 22:25 |

Thanks,Gethin.Would some expert welding around the window aperture create a frame for the standard screen?Perhaps a frame from a scrapper being welded into place. ---------------------- | Sat 31 Jan 2015 @ 02:15 |

from memory it would not be possible to weld a new surround as not only is it taller but wider as well. along with fibreglass all around id say its a big big job but as they say nothing is impossible if you have the determination | Thu 05 Feb 2015 @ 18:36 |

Hi Mrmrstommo I also have an 'unrepairable' chip in my ambulance windscreen. I've not yet yet gone down the route of getting it replaced but have done all the homework. As autoglass couldn't source the replacement, my insurer has asked me to source the glass and rubber and pay for it myself (they say they will cover the cost afterwards) and they will then arrange for the fitting. My cover is apparently up to £1000 and the price I was quoted was £500-600 with a few weeks lead time required. Give this guy a shout, he was mega helpful and if you know your coachbuilder that would narrow it down considerably. paul@vgclimited.co.uk | Wed 18 Feb 2015 @ 23:53 |
