NHS.

Hi to all,

My wife is awaiting a diagnosis from the very slow moving NHS after having had every test and scan available so depending on the outcome on the latest scan on Friday past and the altra-sound scan from the week before life may have to change quite a lot.
But since the first available appointment is Thursday the 14th we are waiting once again, hopefully it will not be anything nasty but until we see that doctor we don't know.

Finally some answers.

Hi to all,

Scan and ultra-sound results show a part blockage between the liver and the duodenum due to debris from the gallbladder which is narrowing that tube and causing waste product to return to the liver.
So it is an operation to clear the blockage and maybe to remove gallbladder, when I asked for a scan eight weeks ago I was told it would not show anything but after three month and pain and discomfort and a number of blood tests looking for a liver problem we have found the cause.
And so next is the treatment and I wonder how long that will take or how successful it will be, not happy!!

Waiting in pain,

Hi to all,

The wait might be a long one, anything up to twelve weeks, she has had to stop taking the morphine because it is making her very sick, I know they talk of cradle to the grave I just did not think they had control of the speed by which this journey could be made!

Not good news.

Hi to all,

My Wife's MRI scan was shown to us today and it shows a tissue mass around behind the pancreas which they thought might have came from a lymph gland, a lymphoma which they have taken a biopsy off but the lab results are not back as yet.
The professor has said that he will phone us the moment he has the lab results probably on Friday, it is in an inoperable place but if it is not cancerous it can be treated.
If however it is cancerous there is not a lot they can do except control the pain.

NHS confirm.

Hi to all,

We had a phone call from the NHS today confirming that the tests have confirmed the mass found on the MRI scan is a cancer, so we are now waiting for an appointment to discuss what treatments are suitable for this type of pancreatic cancer and how much time we have.

The worst news.

Hi to all,

Both my wife and myself had a feeling the news was going to be bad but it still hits you like a ton of bricks at sixty eight years old she thought she had time to enjoy her Grand-children and a few well earned holidays in to sun.

I am quite sure she will Doug, a positive mental attitude is pretty crucial at a time like this, don't let her give up without a fight!
