Newby asking for help - Disc brakes on a CF1

Hi all. I bought a Bedford cf campervan (coach built I think you call it) last year and I love it to bits. I'm a novice mechanically and wondered if any one could give me some advice? I'm putting a new Diesel engine in (my friend is anyway) and wondered about putting front disc brakes on. By the look of lots of posts I've read, it may be quite complicated? Can anyone help with some advice?

It's not that complicated if you're mechanically minded. The issue is to actually find a good setup to use in the first place.
I was going to change mine to disc brakes, however after searching for a while I gave up as I only came across 1 set on ebay which I missed out on. And that looked like it was taken of a van which sat in a field for years. The CF1 never had discs on the single wheel 250/280 chassis.
I'm still not sure if the later CF2 single wheel setup is a "straight" forward bolt on job, again as I never found a good setup, but was set to try it. The big 350 chassis (twin rear wheels and 6 stud wheels won't work).
The problem is you'll have to get a setup of a scrap van/camper. And then you're looking at rebuilding or getting the calipers rebuild because they are bound to be rubbish. As far as I found out you can't even get new discs, only the brake pads.
The time and money you have to spend on it, you might as well rebuild your drum brakes with new shoes and wheel cylinders and stick with it. They do work if in full working order. If you have an early CF1 and don't have a servo unit then rather get that of a late CF1 to make your brakes are bit easier to use. Eearly CF1's have 9" drums, late CF1's 10" drums.

Don't know if you have jumped in with the disc brakes but I have drums all round on my 1980 CF250 and have no complaints, in fact, I put new shoes on both axles and set them up, then after a few miles adjusted them again, all was fine, then the MOT was due so did another adjustment about 400 miles before the test, but my MOT guy said the fronts were preforming better than a lot of the disc brake vehicles they'd had in recently.... the weight of the vehicle helps, but so do big boots
