Charging up.

Hi to all,

Batteries don't like laying idle for long so I am busy checking and charging to try and keep them serviceable for when I do finally get to go back on the road.
To save on battery draining I am able to use the starting handle which has been a very useful conversion.

Hi Doug

Have you thought of a small solar panel just to give the battery a little bit of a charge while it's standing? I know you live in Scotland but I hear you do get some sun

Solar

Hi Colin,

I don't need the sun when you have a starting handle the battery has only had one charge up this year, no starter load to drag it down.
You guys do get a lot more sunshine that why you have more brown people than we do, it tends to be more rust up this end.

charging discovery.

Hi to all,

Testing the battery power and charging to bring up low voltage lead to me testing all the circuits only to discover the utility supply battery was not being charged though the system, a kick back to the fire back last August.
Not been on the road since then so today I had to start rewiring and installing a split-charging unit with heavy cable though the floor and across the chassis to utility battery box and then retest and check alternator output through the system.
The price of not being driven with all the rallies cancelled so this got missed during all the repair work after that fire.
But now all working like it used to once again.
