Wow, that looks like a really neat job!!

The V8 lump looks nice in there, what engine is it?

I also love your push bars!! I welded one together for my car, and I've been thinking about fitting one to the CF too, but never got around to deciding where I should be mounting it! Can you post some more detailed pics of that? Can it push a vehicle out of the way without damaging the van?

Thankyou .

The engine is a Rover 3500 originally from a 1979 SD1 with a Borg Warner 65 auto box. I have done away with the twin SU carbs and have fitted a 2 barrel Holley. The rear axle will also be from a Rover SD1 modified to fit the CF with a ratio of 3.08:1, so she should be long cruises up and down the country .

The push bar is purely cosmetic and just fixes to the front panel and bumpers. As mean and beefy as it looks I wouldn't fancy pushing anything with it. lol

Wow.. Sounds awesome! Will be looking forward to hear how she drives!

I was thinking of fitting a home-made push bar on the front panel on mine, but then figured that in case of even the slightest crash there wouldn't be anything left of the radiator.. Then I thought I'd find a way to use the front chassis ends and maybe even the crossmember to support it, but it's still very much on the planning stage.. I would like it to offer some more protection for the mechanical bits in case some ridiculous driver crashes into me, which always seemed to happen with my car until I fitted some mean push bars there.. Now people seem to get out of my way as soon as they notice them, and I haven't been pulled over yet. I doubt I would want to actually push anything either though..

Evening all, this is Mister E back on the air!!! Its been a while as I moved house and all my toys got locked away and were forgotton about for a while .

But rest easy, I still have the old girl and a couple of weeks ago I got back with it and breathed life into the beast.

That will do for the next few weeks but I am currently sorting out some tinkering space in my back garden so I can bring her home and get her finished. Once she's back normal service will resume with more updates .

Sounds fantastic on the video.

I take it that was just with headers and no exhaust system?

Are the brakes staying as stock or do you have plans?

Yes that is on open headers, I have a set of side pipes to go on that have 3 foot cheery bombs built into them so it should be a little more civilised than that.

The rear brakes are Rover SD1 V8 as that is what the axle is, I was looking for a disc setup for the front but they are a touch rare so I will see how she copes with the drums. At the end of the day she's no racing machine and will not be hooned about at warp 9. And I also own a 300bhp 1970 Plymouth that has drums all round with no servo and I have never had problems stopping that. As long as the brakes are regularly serviced and kept in good order they should be OK (in theory).

Hello,

Just a quick update, I have moved house again so progress has slowed, but this time to a place where there is enough room to have my toys at home. It is rather nice being able to step out of the door and tinker rather than a 20 minute drive everytime I wanted to get something done.

Any how, we have side pipes.

Once I have set the carb up a bit better I will post another vid, the accoustics are awesome!!

They are a straight through type muffler, they give that hot rod "glug glug" type sound.

Bull Bars

Hey Jim Beam, You want some Bull bars like these bud!!

And yes, you can bolt them to the chassis legs for them to actually 'work' if you want to push vehicles around, kill people, actually be menacing etc.

And also, Bull bars are NOT illegal. They never enforced it in the end. All they did was put a rule out that vans made after 2006 need an EU approved bull bar.

Cheers
Ian
