;D

Most of us could never afford the cost of 'proper' restoration and I too keep my van going the best I can, cheer when we arrive somewhere and enjoy the quirks of driving an older vehicle. As long as she is safe to drive - I'm happy

Well dicided to remove a rust bubble today that turned out to be a bodge bubble which then turned out to be a hole load of bodge and rust and a newspaper and a whole load more holes and paper so with my newlie purchased 1.2mm sheet decided to hammer on all day to get the shape of the front wing as there was nothing thick enough to weld a repair patch onto ,.,.,suprised how easy it is with a day of beating sheet metal to get the desired shape (wish id'e thought of this b4 i contacted Mr Bailey) i say easy lol trial and error or errors should i say,.,,.you can see my first attempt and laugh at the holes all round the repair which appeared when the undersealed newspaper was removed ,..,., How ever repaired for now and thats it for another 3 weeks as running a course so no time for the bedie.,., Not quite the right shape on the front but the chrome should cover this and im replacing the indicators as they have had it too ,., will be attempting a rear 1/4 repair in 3 weeks so fingers crossed the wrong shaped 1 Mr bailey sent me can be beatin into the correct shape for the repair,., Saying that though enjoying the challenge this Bedie is throwing at me DAILY

Hi. I'd be interested to see a pic of the seats when fitted. Mine a pretty manky and could do with a bit of upgrading.
Are the Toyota seats the swiveling kind? Were they a fairly straight forward fit onto the metal seat box?

thanks

Oh bloody hell, you took your windscreen out. I shudder at the thought of doing that after finding the replacement of my panel side windows almost excrutiatingly difficult to accomplish.

If you have any info on how you did this, any tips or tricks or things to look out for, please post them up. I have a replacement rubber for my windscreen but the though of doing it frankly terrifies me,

Tim it went in easy,., i thought it was going to be hell trying to put in,, as for tips i just smothered it in fairy liquid and used string inside the rubber to pull the lip through;] Getting the window out without damaging my rubber was an absoloute mare as i refuse to pay £60 for a new one. Have you had any joy with finding a rear quarter? i sent a reply on your notepad with an item on ebay they are breaking maybe the panel is worth a look.

Check that the screen has settled in so that the rubber lies flush with the surround all the way round. Likely places where the screen & rubber may lip up are the corners. Go all round a few times with a rubber mallet to bump in the screen & rubber; avoid hefty wallops and concentrate on the rubber. Once the rubber does pull in flush the edge can be peeled up a bit at a time to work in some sealer; Tex cartridge stuff works ok.

Give the window rubber a good hammering today and its sitting a bit high on the passenger side still so im thinking of fabricating a visor for the windscreen this should keep the rain from both side corners hopefully!! Got my seat mounted today and if i do say so myself is comfy as:p also tinted my windows in the rear but its not too dark so happy with that ,. just getting amongst the rust now popping up around the arches before my exhaust gets chopped to exit at the side
